PARKING AT WINCHESTER ON TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS
If you had the benefit of parking passes in the past then you should be able to park on levels 3 or 4 (staff parking), if you still have the same car registration number.
These levels have ‘registration recognition’ and read your car registration upon entry. There is no fee to pay.
Otherwise, you should park on level 5 or 6 where there is a parking fee.
ONLY PAY ON LEAVING.
To pay your fee there is a machine on level 6, and at the car park end of the ground floor corridor as you leave the hospital.
To attend the sessions it is hoped you will be able to use the 1 to 1½ hour period at £2.70.
The methods of payment are:- Cash, Notes, Credit or Debit cards.
Please note that the parking period is between passing the barrier on the way in, and paying the fee, as there is a tolerance for you to leave the car park having paid.
Car sharing might be an option for some.
You can also park in Hilliers car park in Romsey Road, opposite the hospital, after 6pm when it is free!
There is also the Winchester Park & Ride scheme.
Off peak parking (After 10.30am) £2.50
At the Barfield and St Catherine’s sites it is free after 4pm!! Perfect for us.
If you have a bus pass, you can travel for free to the hospital.
Last bus leaves the hospital at 7.38pm so no good for the later sessions

2018 CHRISTMAS DINNER
GYM SESSIONS DURING THE HEATWAVE
Following our recent meeting with Liz Britton and the hospital’s physios, we have decided to take a lead from Phase 3, in so much as, instead of closing the gym during periods of high temperature, we should continue with exercise classes, but at a reduced level of exertion. Ie 10min warm up, 10min circuit, 10min machines, a short break for refreshments, and finish with 10min cool down.
The final decision on the level best suited to the conditions at any given time, will be left entirely to the discretion of the trainer.
This means we plan to continue with exercises from this coming Monday, 23rd July.
July 2018: Winchester Gym Re-opening
Eastleigh gym remains closed on Monday 16th July but Winchester gym will be open on Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th.
Watch this space, or the the facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/heartsupport/ for further announcements.
1st July 2018: Gym Closures
During this period of high heat, both gyms at Eastleigh and Winchester will be closed.
As soon as temperatures return to normal, i.e. 23 deg or less after 5pm, exercising at the gyms will be able to resume.

EASTLEIGH GYM TEMPORARILY CLOSED
The gym at the Fire & Police HQ is closed from Monday 19th February 2018 until early May 2018, due to building work taking place. Members will be informed when it is safe to return.
Jim will be retiring at the next AGM so we will be needing a new secretary. If you are interested, contact us via email or the contact form, for details of the job.
Martin Sorenson has joined the team at Winchester, replacing Alison as trainer on Thursday evenings.
We hope you will all give him a big welcome.
Please Note: If you have not attended the gym for 3 months or more, you may have to return to Phase 3 to be re-assessed for continuation with Phase 4 exercises.
We are always looking for supervisors for the gym sessions, to give the current few some free weeks. If you feel you could assist the group in this way, please talk to Jim Finch at Winchester, or Greg Smith at Eastleigh. The supervisors set up the session with the paperwork from the box, oversee the money coming in, record the details on the slip then put the cash in a bag in the box. New attendees are given a “starter pack” of forms to complete, which the supervisor then places in the box.
Nothing to be frightened of, just housekeeping, which usually has to be done about once every 4 weeks or so.
